Balancing with Buttons

“When you find yourself in hell, just keep on walking”~Winston Churchill. “The best way out is always through”~Robert Frost. Now, put the two together. No matter what your going through, even if it feels like HELL, you must go THROUGH it in order to get where you want and need to be. I think the key Churchill forgot to mention though is that while your walking, you don’t look back. If it’s “hell”, you’ll only be blinded by the smoke anyway. Depression lies in your past. Anxiety lies in the future and contentment is in the now. Well, that’s the way it should be. LIVE in the moments. CHANGE YOUR THINKING starting today!

When I need to center myself or balance within, I push my biggest reset button. To recap from one of my videos; your reset button is something you like to do that calms some of the demons of life and your illnesses. Some like to meditate, walk, crochet or pray. I like to read and write as my reset button. At least once or twice a year, I push the big recenter button- the beach. The Jersey shore…my calm after my storms. It’s amazing how my body responds immediately. The smell of the salty air, the low base sound of the waves, heat on my face and seagulls up above. You would think my MD would trigger but, it never does. As soon as my feet hit the sand, the balance goes way off, of course. But, I keep walking. I could watch the ocean for hours. As the tide goes out, so do my troubles. My hearing aid picks up the music of the sea prefectly. I take it out and my world goes quiet. I watch the waves build and crash. It’s the loudest silence I ever seen. Reminds me much of life in that sense.

We all need reset buttons. It’s another key to the battle. I walk through the sharp shells, never around them. I always giggle even though it hurts a bit. I stop and regain my balance, and eventually, I get to where I wanted to go; the ocean on my feet. It reminds me of my strength as life can be cruel, like Churchill’s hell. The pull from the undertoe is a reminder of my vertigo. It’s scary, isn’t it? However, once I go into a full run, wobbling and swaying, I finally reach the depths. And with that, I set myself free. I let my body drift with the ride of the calming sea. I am balanced in those moments as I can’t feel the imbalance. My tinnitus is overcome with louder noises of breaking water. I embrace it all and think of nothing.

As each wave comes, I have choices; go under, ride it or float with it. It’s very much like life again if you ask me. And although I have the most supportive man getting knocked over by the waves watching after me, I know one thing for sure. No matter how much love and support you get or even lack thereof, ain’t nobody going to go as hard for you as-YOU.

Walk those shells, find your way, ride with the waves, push your reset button and LIVE.

(Note: I always have someone with me as vertigo gives no warning making dangerous conditions. I always suggest safety first)

Free Meds You’re Missing

“I want to protect myself from all of the disappointments of Menieres and Vertigo!”

How often even the greatest of warriors feel this way. And yet, when you try, you do yourself a great disservice. Disappointment is a part of MD and a part of life. When we all fail to acknowledge this fact, we tend to view disappointments as a disaster rather than a chance to learn and grow, which is a pathway to real hope. For this reason, we must learn to recognize disappointment as a turn in the tides and not the sinking of our ship. Besides, you never know when remission is right around the corner!

Guilt has also becomes a friend we don’t want yet, it likes to sneak up on you. Guilt that your partner, spouse, kids, family see you as a burden because you can’t pull your weight. Guilt is an invisible burden that wears us out and does no good at all. In fact, it actually prevents progress and renders you incapable of being the very best that you can be!

We find our emotions can get out of sorts easily. The moment MD turns it’s ugly head, we feel lost all over again. I tell my members of Meniere’s and Vertigo Without Borders all the time that they must change their thinking! You must not give up on yourself or your fight in this. We all have a med combo. But how many of you aren’t taking the three free meds that don’t come from the pharamacy. In any battle, the key to winning against the enemy is to stay focused and confident in the win. Are these three life prescriptions the cure? No. But how different your life will become if you add them to your med list. Change your thinking and change your quality of life!

ENT’s Simplified Answer

💥Medical Answer💥

The one thing that has really shocked me is how many MD sufferers live in states/areas/regions that cannot find an ENT who specializes in Meniere’s Disease.

I am fortunate enough to live in an area where I have two; Dr. John Feehrey of Chester, PA and Dr. Thomas Willcox with Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I WANT TO SHARE MY BLESSINGS! ❤

I feel I need to start getting some real medical explanations. I asked Dr. Thomas to kindly support me in this journey and answer one question. He agreed, answered the following question then wished me his best on my journey.

“WHAT IS THE REAL MEDICAL REASON FOR HEARING LOSS IN MENIERES PATIENTS”?

*Disclaimer: Dr. Thomas Willcox is a licensed ENT however, he is not your personal doctor. He is giving his opinionated answer based on his knowledge, not your personal medical history. Additionally he is covered under the dusclaimer in my facebook group Meniere’s and Vertigo Without Borders.

Upper Cervical Adjustments

Dr. Tony is my chiropractor here in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. My Chiropractor explains in detail the “how and why” of Upper Cerival Adjustment relief for Meniere’s/Vertigo Sufferers.

Please note that we are all the same yet very different. What works for some of you, may not work for all.

I’ve had several people global, actually bring the video to their chiropractors and gain relief in symptoms. However, some felt that it did not help and many could not use this as a method due to other injuries or diseases.

(Dr. Tony and I are protected under a disclaimer. The disclaimer is posted in Facebook group Meniere’s and Vertigo Without Borders.)

Wishing everyone a spin free day. ❤

Twisted

My Alumni followers know how I feel about laughter. Laughter is one of the best medications and you don’t even need a prescription.

Sometimes, even when trying your hardest to be positive, your illness weighs heavy on your chest. I know that feeling.

Take a moment to breath. Give yourself some credit. Laugh a little and LIVE a lot.

Deck of Life

I hate games. Well, except rummy. My favorite thing about that game is I’ve mastered it. I let the other person go on like a roller coaster, picking up and putting down. They laugh and giggle as they throw pile builds and I’m holding many cards with nothing down. I wait patiently…then, they pick up the entire throw pile just for that crappy three 7’s. It’s my turn next. At that, I put down my Aces, my Kings, my royal run, and 3 cards down on theirs. I discard my final and they are stuck having to take away all the points they had in the game. Game over. I win.

You don’t need to understand the game of rummy to understand my point. Life dealt you your hand. It doesn’t really matter what cards you got dealt. What matters is how you play those cards to the fullest. You’ll have many opponents (Meniere’s, judgemental people, losses of careers, marital problems, financial issues, etc.) and many opportunities to chose how to handle each of them depending on how you play the cards.

When the opponents think they’ve beat you; believe in youself more than they trust their expected win. Lay the cards all out, discard and enjoy the feeling of the power you have over the game. Trust me, life will keep playing. New day, new cards. How you play the game is all up to you.

CLEARANCE RACK

INSPIRATION:

You can’t help that Meniere’s Disease (MD) or a Vertigo condition is a part of your life. It was never a choice. How you handle it-is! At what point did you start letting MD define who you are? At what point did you start believing all the negative things people had to say about you?

Your struggle is real. You and I both know that! But, you must not let the negativity in. You must surround yourself with positive people, support and laughter. Believe in yourself again! At the end of the day, ain’t nobody going to go as hard for you as YOU! Best trust and believe that. It’s in your darkest moments of this journey that you will find your light!

If you don’t respect yourself, nobody else will either. Always remember that you are only treated the way you allow people to treat you.

Don’t settle for anyone and definitely don’t settle within yourself. Get yourself off the clearance rack and back into the showcase where you belong! ❤
